Kim McKay

Kim is passionate about wellbeing and has a lifelong interest in the body and mind. Graduating top of her class with a Diploma in Remedial Massage Therapy & Integrated Body Therapies, she originally qualified with a BA in Psychology and has a NZQA Diploma in Yoga Teaching and Lifestyle Management.

Kim has a caring outlook on the whole person and believes each person's unique requirements can best be met through the use of a variety of techniques, tailored to the individual and coupled if necessary with self-care to aid recovery. Years of practising sports and yoga has enabled her to have a good understanding of movement patterns and Kim's psychology and meditation background inform her keen interest in the mind-body connection. Her aim is to help her clients increase the quality and enjoyment of their lives.

She has worked with a wide variety of clients and had success preparing and rehabilitating runners, working with dancers and other sports people, working with stress-related issues to help balance the nervous system, addressing occupational overuse conditions, and combining massage work with yoga and breath work to address holding patterns, tension and postural asymmetry.

Sharing her passion for body work with students as a Holistic Health Training Ltd tutor is something that she approaches with great enthusiasm and joy. Kim believes that connecting through positive touch as human beings is healing and nourishing and improves general wellbeing on all levels – from the body, to the mind, emotions and spirit. Helping people to learn to work with others with a skilled, safe touch is a great privilege.

Always looking to develop professionally, Kim also has Postgraduate level qualifications in Intra-Muscular Acupuncture Needling for Pain Management and Applied Myoskeletal Therapy (AMT Australia), and is certified in Fascial Kinetics (a Bowen therapy). She has also learnt the use of vacuum cups for Western cupping therapy to help release myofascial sticking and increase lymphatic drainage.

Kim is proud to be work in collaborative relationships with other trusted healthcare providers and has a strong referral network to help create the best possible outcomes for clients.
